IPDP Kenya

About

IPDP Kenya provides opportunities for students across academic disciplines to participate in a transformative learning journey in education, hospitality, criminal justice, Africana studies, and art education through Kenya's storytelling and social justice lens. It highlights the observation that in this world there are no outright experts in the evolving story of life; only very curious and inquisitive souls with varying degrees of experience. Buffalo State students and faculty/staff travel to Kenya every other summer for approximately three weeks.

Location

Nairobi, Kenya (view map) is located in the southwest of Kenya. Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya. The name is derived from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to 'place of cool waters', a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. During Kenya's early period, the city became a centre for the coffee, tea and sisal industries. The successive black governments since independence have built and turned Nairobi into a modern metropolitan city with a diverse population and a growing economy.
